Assignment Description

 

 

Students will be conducting scholarly research for the novels they are reading and studying.

Study Plan:

Research the novel of choice, which includes following criteria:

  • Critical commentary on the novel's content: historical impact, characterization, theme, symbolism, social significance, setting, point of view, connection (if any) with the author's background and the novel's content, etc.
  • May use 1 good biographical or autobiographical source
  • May use 1 encyclopedia (may NOT be Wikipedia)
  • May NOT use Sparknotes, Monarch notes, BookRag, etc. (May use for own use, but may not use for a scholarly reference in the paper itself)
  • Should use a combination of online sources and hard copy reference and print sources
  • Minimum of 8 sources to be included in bibliiograph; must USE at least 5 to cite from in the paper
  • Paper will be 5 to 10 pages long, double spaced, one-inch margins, 12-pt Times New Roman (typical MLA format)
  • Bibliography page to be included at end of paper
  • Outline page to be included at beginning of paper
  • Due date of paper:  March ____
