Assignment

Select a book from the Reading and Writing Center.  Write a report on that book (4 to 5 pages) being sure to include the elements listed below:

 

SUMMARY - Write a one-two page summary of the book stating the central point of the book and the main details.

 

CHARACTER OBSERVATION - Write a one paragraph description of the main character(s) in the book.

 

AUTHOR - Write one paragraph about the author.  You may find any article about the author and summarize the biographical information.* 

 

EXTENDING YOUR KNOWLEDGE - Choose a topic that is related to the book in some way that you would like to learn more about.  It could be a place or event mentioned in the book, historical event. *May need to look up information about this topic.

 

RESEARCH - Go to the library databases (Master File is a good one) and find at least two articles about your topic.  Be sure to use a source that gives current and reliable information, such as a journal article.  DO NOT use Wikipedia or Google or other internet based search engines.

 

SUMMARY ON A RELATED TOPIC - Write a one-two page summary about information you found in your articles.

 

WORKS CITED - Using MLA format.
