Assignment--Essay 3

Essay 3 Topics

Topics (choose 1):

1.      Reed believes one of America’s characteristics is that it is a multicultural society. What characteristics do you believe best define American culture? Name at least three.

2.      According to Kingsolver many of America’s patriotic icons derive from war. Researching at least two American icons (the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell, the America flag, etc), do you think these icons still represent today’s America or do new icons need to be erected? (Note: make sure you look up the term “icon” in the Oxford English Dictionary to understand what it means and learn how it has been used.

3.      If you have a topic in mind related to our readings you may propose it to me, but I must approve it on or before the first peer review activity.
