Assignment for Essay 4:

In response to the following prompt, write a 1200 - 1500 word argument/persuasion essay to include a minimum of 1 reference from texts used in the unit, 3 to 5 references from outside sources, and a corresponding Works Cited page.

According to Yale Professor Robert Thompson, America is better characterized as “a cultural bouillabaisse” rather than the traditional “melting pot.”  What, specifically, is American culture?  Write an essay which defines American culture and defends your definition by discussing specific examples of it.  Be sure to summarize, analyze, and respond to at least one source from our readings in this unit and 3 to 5 outside sources.
