“A Rose for Emily” (William Faulkner)

“Shiloh” (Bobbie Ann Mason)

“Boys and Girls” (Alice Munro)

“Rites of Passage” (Sharon Olds)

“The Man Who Was Almost a Man” (Richard Wright)

Using Reed’s “Poem for Two Daughters,” at least one of the above listed works, and at least one secondary source, write an essay that examines the perspectives on children and/or parental influences.  Please remember the essay must be a literary analysis using the works selected.  The essay should not be a general commentary on the perspective of children and/or parental influences with a quote or two thrown in from the works.

Requirements:

·         An MLA formatted and documented essay of at least 750 words applying one or more literary elements to at least three sources (combining primary and secondary).
