Career Project PowerPoint Outline

Your instructor has given you a copy of the career project assignment with a list of questions you need to answer. To help you get an idea of how to transfer the information you've gathered into a PowerPoint presentation, I have created a script showing you how to divide up your information into slides.

First Slide

Title Slide > in the title text box type: Project Name, Teacher's Name, Course Title and Number, Date. Subheading Text Box: Student Name - Career Interest

Second Slide

Select the Content with Caption slide > In top left title text box type in the career name. In the captiontext box tell why you chose the career. Add a picture in the right space by clicking on the icon with the four pictures. This will take you to Office clip-art where you can add a picture to the slide. If you have your own pictures click on the portrait icon to browse and select a picture from your flash drive.

Third Slide

Select the Two Content slide > In the Title text box type in the heading, Educational Requirements. In the contenttext boxes type in the educational requirements. Example: A student must complete a four year education program at a university to become a teacher. In the last year the student must complete a student teaching assignment and pass a state certification test.

Four Slide

Select the Content with Caption slide > In top left title text box type, Salary Range. In the caption text box type in the salary range. In the content text box you may want to add a picture of a person performing the career you have chosen or add a graph of salary ranges as they appear in different areas of the country or in different industries. You may find and wish to show a graph that shows the demand or growth this job is expecting to have in the future.

Fifth Slide

Select the Comparison slide > Type in the title box, Companies That Hire for this Career. In one subtitle text box type, Local and add local company names in the text box below it. In the second subtitle text box type, National and type in national company names that hire below it.

Sixth Slide

Select the Picture with Caption slide . Type Potential for Job Advancement in the add title text box. Under this write a short sentence on the potential for job advancement. Add a picture that relates to your career or speak to the librarian, Lori Warren about a video that might work in this space. Sometimes finding a short 1 - 2 minute video on careers can be hard to find.

Seventh Slide

Select the Two Content slide > In the Title text box type in the heading, Job Responsibilities. In the content text boxes type in the responsibilities of the job. Example: Librarian Job Responsibilities- Teach students about research methods...Show students how to format research papers...Show students how to use databases....

Eighth Slide

Select the Title with Content slide >  In the title text box type, Occupational Hazards or Job Liabilities. In the content text box type in a list of hazards or negative points to the job.

Ninth Slide

Select the Title with Content slide >  In the title text box type, Personality Mosaic Results orStrength Finders Results (This will depend on your assignment). In the content text box type in how the results relate to your career choice. 

Tenth Slide to 16th

Select the Title with Content slide >  In the title text box type, 5 Signature Themes or Top Strengths. In the content text box type in the 5 themes or strengths and tell how each one relates to your career choice. You may need wish to create a slide for each signature theme or strength to explain with more detail.

Final Slide

Select the Title with Content slide >  In the title text box type, Internet Resources or Works Cited and list the citations for the websites where you gathered your information. See the MLA PDF to the left of this column for MLA examples.
